Nexa appoints its first ESG Lead
We are delighted to announce that we have appointed our first ever ESG (environmental, social, governance) Lead at Nexa.
Catherine Oh has joined us in this critical role, bringing her considerable business experience and expertise in this area. We are really looking forward to working with her to increase awareness, both internally and among our clients, as well as enhancing Nexa’s own ESG performance through the implementation of sustainable and ethical strategies – which we believe will ultimately lead to improved performance across the board.
Catherine has extensive experience in the financial services sector, her 20 year career spanning roles with BlackRock, Morgan Stanley, SBC Warburg and Standard Chartered in Asia and Europe. Cathy recently also acquired a legal degree (LLB) and legal Masters (LLM) to compliment her financial background.
Catherine is an expert on all things ESG, including regulatory requirements and equality, diversity and inclusion in business. She regularly advises SMEs on “walking the talk” – how to incorporate ESG into their business plans and organisational culture.
Nexa’s CEO, Nigel Clark said:
“We are privileged to have Cathy join us here at Nexa. I’ve known Cathy for a long time and I’m confident she can really help us, our lawyers and our clients. We’re looking to develop our internal ESG culture and mindset as well as our processes and systems to enable us to better manage our environmental and ethical impacts, reduce our carbon footprint and improve sustainability, as well as ensuring diversity and inclusion remain front and centre of our business.
ESG has long been an area that we wanted to concentrate on more and in Cathy we have found a fantastic expert who I know is really going to make a difference at Nexa.
We are also excited that Cathy will be available to assist our clients with their own ESG agendas and work with a number of other Nexa lawyers to deliver a market leading offering.
We know this area is, quite rightly, evolving rapidly within society and the business landscape, and at Nexa we are determined to take it seriously and commit to dedicating the resources that it deserves.”
